According to research by the American Cancer Society and the National Cancer Institute, at least 35 percent of all cancers are related to diet; in women this rises to at least 50 percent. Sound nutrition is an essential component to treating and preventing breast cancer.âI can always tell when cancer patients are making good choices with their diet,â said Karen Russell, medical director of cancer research at TMH. âIt helps them get through the rounds of radiation, itâs tiring and they need all the help they can get.âThere isnât any food or diet that can totally stop breast cancer, but there are steps that will make your body heal faster by boosting immunity and making treatment easier.Diet tipsâ¢Eat a wide variety of foods with as much fresh food as possible.â¢Eat an abundance of vegetables and fruits (7-9 servings a day).
