Maternal diet affects Infant DNA Expression/Maternal Microbes Protect Infant Brain Development




A new study suggests that a mother's environment around the time of conception could change the function of a gene influencing immunity and cancer risk in her child; diet is shown to be the most likely environmental driver. A mother's gut microbiome may have a protective effect on her baby's brain development. Mice born to mothers with healthy gut microbiome exhibit normal closure of blood brain barrier.
