Jayden Gillam tipped back her head and took an emphatic bite of her pizza. Itâs her favorite lunch fare from the Gibbs Elementary cafeteria â along with the mashed potatoes.  âI donât get anything that I donât like,â Jayden said matter-of-factly on a Tuesday during the third full week of kindergarten. âI only get things that I do like. If I got something I didnât like, Iâd just throw it away.âThe slice in Jaydenâs hands is the same rectangle pizza with three slices of pepperoni, served on a plastic blue tray, that has graced school cafeterias for decades.Except itâs not.This pizza is made with a whole-wheat crust and reduced-fat cheese made by Tonyâs. Itâs 388 calories and has 665 milligrams of sodium. Itâs served with 90-calorie mashed potatoes, 95-calorie corn, canned peaches in a light syrup, ½ cup of grapes, raw veggies and a side salad.
