A friend asked me to help with her diet. Sheâs healthy except for the slings and arrows of oldish age. Marie Osmond isnât her type, nor would she spend what shipped diet meals cost. Sheâs seen a doctor who referred her to a nutritionist. This isnât a federal case, for heavenâs sake, just 10 pounds before her granddaughterâs wedding in July because she purposely bought a dress one size too small.Besides, I donât have an agenda.Granny-friend is a good cook, accustomed to interesting food, which she wasnât finding. What she needed most of all was stuff her husband would enjoy, too â stuff that didnât taste like diet food but low-calorie enough to allow decent portions.Could I help?You betcha. I read labels and food news like Iâm being paid by the word. My motto: try, adapt, refine.
